The Albion in Hove is one of those few remaining, traditional, quintessentially English pubs. Situated right in the centre of Hove, the pub retains the etched glass in the windows and the traditional look and feel while still harmonising this with the requirements of the digital age. With air conditioning throughout, two large projection TV screens plus 4 other TVs – sufficient to cater for every taste when there is a fixture clash. All major sporting events are shown with all Sky Sports channels available.
With the kitchen now under new management and traditional pub grub served 12:00 until 5:00 pm Tuesday to Saturday and delicious Sunday roasts served from 12pm on a Sunday, the pub caters for those who need to eat as well as drink. With traditional ales and fine wines and spirits, the pub can cater for all those eclectic tastes that may pass by, being on a route favoured by the peripatetic amongst the inhabitants of the community.
Open Monday to Thursday from 10:30 in the morning until 11:00pm with an extra hour until midnight on Friday and Saturday and 12:00 until 10:30 pm on a Sunday the Albion is always open whilst most need it.
A sheltered smoking area exists at the back of the pub for those who wish to smoke – despite the draconian attempts of the Government to nanny us otherwise – or for those who wish to take the air. Heated during the winter with shelter from the inclemencies that the English weather can throw at us, many a bon viveur will be holding court and impressing those around with the profundity of his argument and viewpoint.
The Albion has had the same landlord for nearly thirty years so has a wide selection of regulars of all ages and friendly staff to welcome the newcomers, this is an Oasis of calm before you hit the bars of George Street and the west of Church Road.
With many events – both regular and special – the Albion is a busy pub, much loved by its regulars and able to cater for private functions at times. The pub sponsors local sporting giants Hove RFC and many a rugby player can be found in the bar on a Saturday night toasting the latest victory and showing the scars of battle. A supporter of local park football teams and other community ventures, the Albion leads where others only think about following.
So, what you waiting for – come and visit today. You’ll be sure of a warm welcome.
